Here are the guidelines to a three-year process map developed by Ascent Youth Coaching for a multi-sport athlete aiming to excel academically and build a strong university resume:

 

Year 1: Foundation and Skill Development

 

  •     Goal Setting: Define academic and extracurricular goals, including target GPA, involvement in clubs, and leadership roles.

  •     Time Management: Learn effective time management strategies to balance academics, sports, and other commitments.

  •     Academic Excellence: Establish strong study habits, complete assignments promptly, and seek help when needed to maintain high grades.

  •     Extracurricular Involvement: Join school clubs or community organizations aligned with your interests to start building a well-rounded resume.

 

Year 2: Leadership and Specialization

 

  •     Extracurricular Leadership: Assume leadership roles in clubs or organizations to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and organizational skills.

  •     Focus on Key Sports: Identify a couple of sports you're most passionate about and continue skill enhancement and competitive participation.

  •     Academic Enrichment: Explore advanced courses or enrichment programs to challenge yourself academically.

  •     Volunteer Work: Engage in volunteer activities that align with your passions and showcase your commitment to community service.

  •     Resume Building: Create a comprehensive resume that highlights your academic achievements, sports involvement, leadership roles, and volunteer work.

 

 

 

 

Year 3: Refinement and University Preparation

 

  •     Sports Specialization: Focus primarily on your chosen sports, joining competitive teams or leagues to showcase your skills.

  •     Mentorship: Seek mentorship from teachers, coaches, or professionals in your areas of interest to gain valuable guidance.

  •     University Research: Research universities with strong academic programs in line with your interests. Explore opportunities for scholarships and admission requirements.

  •     Personal Statement: Craft a compelling personal statement for university applications that highlights your academic achievements, leadership, and sports accomplishments.

  •     University Visits: Attend university tours, open houses, or virtual events to experience campus life and gather information about academic programs.

  •     Application Submission: Complete university applications, ensuring all documents, transcripts, and recommendations are submitted accurately and on time.

  •     Decision Making: Evaluate university offers based on academic programs, extracurricular opportunities, and overall fit.
